WHO I AM

I am a creation of God
Made in His own image
A pile of mere dust
Which His breath gave life
I am the means of procreation

I am the salt of the earth
The seed that fell on good soil
The prodigal son
The reason for His crucifixion
I am the consequence of His resurrection

I am the light in the dark
The eyes of the blind
The strength of the weak
The voice of the oppressed
I am thy neighbors love

I am the epitome
Of death to life
Of Slave to freeborn
Of Lost but found.
I am a paradigm of God’s Love

I am who He says I am
The temple of God
The proof of victory
The loss of hell
I am God’s claim

I am the voice of conversion
The vessel of God’s will
The shine of God’s grace
The heir of God’s kingdom
I am a Soldier of Christ.

16million Lagosians Boarded BRT In Six Months

At least 16 million Lagosians have boarded the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) buses in the last six months, Commissioner for Transportation, Prof. Bamidele Badejo, disclosed. I have been trying to do the maths since I heard that figure, the money is just too much.

Yet, plying the BRT from Ketu to TBS you can't move a 100meters stretch without experiencing bumps, you almost feel the bus is will fall to either side. It's much more worse a the CMS end of theBRT Lane. And I wonder, if the BRT lane, which only these Government buses ply is left unattended to for such a period, what hope then, do we have for the numerous State and inner city roads that are in such a bad shape have.

As much as I like to commened Gov. Fashola efforts in redeeming the pride of Lagos State. The pace of road rehabilitation should be doubled, given the sucess of the massive internal revenue drive being employed by he Lagos State Government.

PS: about revenue drive, yours truly thinks Gov. Fashola must have been an Igbo Man in his former life. With the different internal revenue generation formular he comes up with. The Guy is a hustler, or may be his adviser in that regard is an Igbo man.

"Obama" Still I Rise

I got to read the poem “Still I Rise” written by Dr. Maya Angelou, a renowned personality in the African American Community and in the United States of America. This is a woman who knows her black history. She always seems to be acknowledged in virtually every edition of Ebony Magazine for some reason. My desire to read the poem was stirred by it’s title, which is same with a track in Tupac Shakur’s ( in Loving Memory) posthumous album, also named “Still I Rise”. Being a Tupac fan and having heard the track, I was certain that Pac must have read the poem before he did that track. Actually, it went further to reflect Tupac’s passion for the emancipation of the African America in the US.

However, this is not about Dr. Angelou neither is it about Tupac, rather it’s about the man of the moment “Barak H. Obama”. Recent campaign ads and speeches of his rivals, Sen. John MacCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have taken a rather racial undertone in the US. Palin at one of her rallies said Sen. Obama pals with terrorists and that he is not “like us” and doesn’t love America “like we do”. She casts Obama as the “other”. In the post September 11 attack in America, the “other” is synonymous with the “enemy of America”. Also, for the record at a Republican campaign rally in Florida last week, a man yelled from the crowd “kill him” (i.e. Obama). In the same regard, during the second presidential debate, Sen. MacCain referred to Obama as “that one”. From what I understand, is a phrase that a white man from North Carolina, would use to refer to a colored person. It is obvious that Sen. MacCain feels insulted to be fighting for the “white” house with “that one”.

In spite of MacCain/Palin tantrums and campaign of defamation of character towards Obama, the amiable Illinois Senator is gaining acceptance among whites, Hispanics, working class, first time voters and still rising. So I dedicate to Obama, these lines from Dr. Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise”;

…You may write me down in history, with your bitter, twisted lies,

You may trod me in the very dirt

But, still, like dust, I’ll rise…

Obama Ahead of McCain in Latest Poll

Obama, an Illinois senator, leads 49 percent to 42 percent among Ohio voters, according to a Columbus Dispatch poll of 2,262 likely voters released yesterday.

The survey, conducted Sept. 24 to Oct. 3, shows a change from a poll by the newspaper before the parties' nominating conventions, when McCain had a single percentage-point advantage. The state is crucial to the Arizona senator's campaign, because no Republican has won the presidency without carrying Ohio.

Polls in Ohio ``are showing increased support for Barack Obama,'' because voters are paying attention to McCain's support for privatizing Social Security, backing ``job-killing trade agreements,'' and his backing of deregulation of the banking system, Ohio Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown said on ABC's ``This Week'' program yesterday.

A Minnesota poll of 1,084 likely voters published by the Star Tribune newspaper shows Obama leading 55-37 percent over McCain. The poll was conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota said the Star Tribune poll is ``notoriously not accurate,'' and said a separate earlier poll found McCain favored by 1 percentage point.

``Minnesota is a Democrat-leaning state, but not so much that it's implausible for a Republican to win here,'' Pawlenty said on ``This Week.''

Pennsylvania Poll

In Pennsylvania, Obama has a 50 percent to 40 percent lead over McCain, according to a Morning Call/Muhlenberg College tracking poll.

The Muhlenberg College poll surveyed 597 likely voters and was conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. The results of the three state polls were outside the margin for error.

The presidential race in Colorado remains a tie, according to a poll released by the Denver Post yesterday.

National polls also show that Obama is maintaining a lead over McCain.

Obama led McCain 49 percent to 42 percent among registered voters surveyed Sept. 27-29 by the Pew Research Center. In a mid- September poll, the candidates were in a statistical dead heat.

In a CBS News poll conducted Sept. 27-30, Obama led 50 percent to 41 percent among likely voters. The margin increased 4 percentage points from a CBS/New York Times survey a week earlier.

What Extraordinary Trait Must A Potential Husband Possess To Win Your Love And Fidelity?

I was discussing with some friends last weekend, eligible bachelors if I may add, at wedding reception. When it came to the issue of marriage, they all seemed to concur to the opinion that there is no faithful and good potential wife material out there. And that Guys that decide to get married do so, because of love and hope by God’s grace that any prior flaws will fade in the course of the marriage.

However, I and a couple of guys seemed to be the dissenting voices for various reasons. In line with this, yours truly is of the opinion that there are lots of ladies out there who would give their all, to keep her martial vows and a happy home regardless of her past. Anyway, my dear discussants will not have it, but they all concluded that for a lady to be true and all that, the guy must possess an extraordinary attribute, to can command such love and fidelity. These attributes, to mention a few include; fame, massive wealth, handsome, dumb, etc.

I have since been pondering over this issue, may be my friends at the event where right or probably wrong, but to be certain I felt the need to seek your opinion. So, my question is what extraordinary attribute, must your own potential Husband possess?

Arsenal for Trophies 2008/2009 Footbal Season Prayer

It’s been about three weeks into the European football season, and teams have began sizing themselves up on paper. This is one of those periods during the year, that I keenly look forward to the weekends not because I don’t get to work (as if I have a real job), but to hangout and relax with friends watching my darling football team and their favorite teams play the beautiful game called “soccer” and lest I forget indulge in constructive arguments.

Yes! Before you ask, Kc is an ardent Arsenal Football Club supporter. Anyway due to last season woes, I have decided to talk less and pray more this 2008/2009 football season. So, I thought it would be nice to share my Arsenal for Trophies Prayer, for you all, to also intercede for me.

Dear God,

Glory be to your name.
We fans of Arsenal Football Club are on our knees, this 2008/2009 football season. We ask that the feats of 1930–31, 1932–33, 1933–34, 1934–35, 1937–38, 1947–48, 1952–53, 1970–71, 1988–89, 1990–91, 1997–98, 2001–02, 2003–04 premier league seasons and the FA Cup victories of 1929–30, 1935–36, 1949–50, 1970–71, 1978–79, 1992–93, 1997–98, 2001–02, 2002–03, 2004–05 be repeated this 2008/2009 season.

Lord, we also ask thee to break our UEFA Championship jinx this 2008/2009 season. That this most elusive trophy be Emirates Stadium bound this 2008/2009 season. As we ask for these three bragging rights, please grant our best premiership rival the Carling Cup.

We pray for a fulfilling season to Flamini, Hleb, and Gilberto, but we pray more for Nasri, Ramsey, Bischoff, and Silvestre that their signing may not only be a blessing to them alone but to Arsenal FC as well.

We pray for that every member of the team should be purged of costly mistakes and blessed with opportunity to score decisive goals. We pray for Adebayor to waste fewer chances and take advantage of every half chance. That his 40 2008/2009 season goals dream may come to pass.

Lord, shield Van Persie from any injuries this season, and grant Eduardo, Rocisky speedy recovery. Let no Arsenal player fall victim of such injuries this 2008/2009 season. We thank you lord for blessing us with the likes of Fabregas, Clichy, Sagna, and especially Walcott. As these players hope to make their major indelible mark in football history, let their efforts be crowned with the Premiership, FA Cup, and UEFA Championships trophies this 2008/2009 season.

Finally Lord, bless our dear Arsene Wenger with greater wisdom; techniques and managerial skill to enable him prove his critics wrong. To maintain our home wins record and few away loses. That his youth strategy would bring these desired trophies to the Emirates stadium. Grant us this requests, as we ascribe praise to your Holy name.

Somebody say Amen!
